Hello Beloved!
In my mother tongue, we say “Eku ijo meta”. It’s been so many months of silence from my end, but then what can I say? Let’s just thank God for life.
Anyways, I am glad that I came just in time to say “Happy Easter!”. I remember last year, I wrote a letter. But this time, I was just led to share one of the important parts of my Easter Celebration. I’m talking about my ‘Easter Playlist’. I think I got intentional about this about four years ago and yes, it gets updated every year.
So without further ado, here are some songs and hymns that have come to mean a lot to me, especially during the season called Easter. Listening to them is like listening to a whole sermon on the gift of righteousness given to us by the reason of the cross.
Like I always say, Easter is never about eggs and bunnies, no matter how much the world tries to secularize it. It’s a love story. As a matter of fact, it’s the greatest love story ever written.
I also decided to include an excerpt of my best part of the songs. Enjoy!
1. Crowns by Hillsong.
“There is a hill I cherish
Where stood a precious tree
The emblem of Salvation
The gift of Calvary
How is it I should profit?
While He is crucified
Yet as His life was taken
So I was granted mine…”
2. As You Find Me by Hillsong.
“…And I know I don’t deserve this kind of love
Somehow this kind of love is who You are
It’s a grace I could never add up
To be somebody You still want
But somehow
You love me as You find me…”
3. Resurrecting by Elevation Worship.
“…By Your spirit I will rise
From the ashes of defeat
The resurrected King, is resurrecting me
In Your name I come alive
To declare Your victory
The resurrected King, is resurrecting me.”
4. I Desire Jesus by Hillsong.
“I desire Jesus
Precious Lamb
Who ransomed me
And unto You an offering
Will my life forever be.”
5. Ni na ka ne (I am Yours) by Jobie.
“It cost God plenty to get me out of that dead end
And He stamped me with the seal of the Holy Spirit
Identifying, I am his special possession
Absolutely, nothing can come between His love for me”
Note: This is for my fellow Hausa worship lovers, you’d love this one!
6. Oramipada (He redeemed me) by New Gen.
“…O gba kokoro lowo Iku, Ogbe iku mi ni isegun, iye mi wa ninu re”
(He retrieved the keys from death, He swallowed up death in victory, I live in Him).”
7. My Faith has found a resting place (Hymn).
“My faith has found a resting place
Not in device nor creed
I trust the Ever-living One
His wounds for me shall plead.”
8.The Old Rugged Cross (Hymn).
“To the old rugged cross I will ever be true
It’s shame and reproach gladly bear
Then he’ll call me some day to my home far away
Where his glory forever I’ll share.”
9. In Christ Alone.
“No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny.”
10. Worthy is the Lamb by Hillsong Worship.
“Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious
High and lifted up
Jesus Son of God
The Darling of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb.”
I trust that in the very least, one of these will bless and edify your Spiritman now, and even in days to come.
Blessings,
Sinuola.
