Not quite long ago, I saw some images supposedly depicting Easter celebration and all I saw were eggs and bunnies. I was lost for a few seconds. Easter means much more than this, I thought to myself. So much more!
As I thought it over, I came to a realization – Revelation! It is by revelation of the Holy Spirit through God’s word that we know the essence of the season. That is it not about bunnies and eggs and what not.
We know that God commendeth His love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom 5:8)
So we remember this season years ago when the saviour was sent to fulfil the Father’s desire of reconciliation. We remember his shameful and painful death; his passion. We think about the silence that followed the next day and the day after. Silent here on earth, but in the spirit realm, the battle for our souls was on going.
And then we celebrate his resurrection and the victory he brought to us as a result. He didn’t just give his life and leave us. He sent each one of us gifts. Beautifully wrapped and packaged with a card right on top which read “Salvation”.
Yes it was signed at the back: “Through Grace,
Love always”
And oh the joy that floods the heart of any who receives this gift. The peace and hope that overwhelmes him when he discovers this gift is a “shinning-white” robe with the word “Righteousness” woven onto the collar.
We realize that this season as narrated in the synoptic gospels changed everything. It speaks of unconditional love, grace, mercy, redemption, justification and hope for mankind. For the Lord Jesus came in our likeness, took hold of us and helped us make that mark before God.
Beloved, Easter is not fully Easter if you have not responded to him. If you have not accepted the gift he sent through grace and with love. And if you have, easter is not really easter if you have not realised the significance of the robe you have on and all it is supposed to work out in your life. If you are still the ‘same’ as you were before you accepted the gift. This season, search His word, request for understanding, and trust him to open your eyes.
And if you have responded to the grace, received and permitted it to do (and is still doing) its perfect work in you, sing along (or say the words) with me:
“Your grace has found me just as I am,
Empty-handed but alive in your hands.
Majesty, Majesty.
Forever I am changed by your love,
In the presence of your majesty.”
Happy Easter Beloved, Celebrate our risen king!
Sinuola.
