Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.
Proverbs 4:23 NKJV
I have observed under the sun that my generation has mastered the art of ‘sorting’. Of life, soul and destiny. But I am not here to discuss generally. I want to talk about the believer and this unconscious and seemingly smart introduction to our faith walk.
It’s not out of place to narrow down areas of our lives as it relates to goals and ambitions whether short-term or long-term. So, when we say, physically, spiritually, emotionally, academically or career wise, there’s really nothing wrong.
But how about when we begin to divide these parts of our lives, handing over a portion to God as we deem fit, or none at all?
I’m referring to how the 21st century christian youth brings out his spiritual life, dusts it out on a Sunday morning, and heads to church. He slips it back into the box that evening. Monday to Friday, he has on his work/academic life, and as often as the occasion calls for it, his social life is always ready to answer.
Rinse Repeat.
Child of God, this compartmentalization of our lives we seem to have mastered is not it. It won’t work, at least, not in the way we think it will. Especially as it relates to social life and the influence of the media. Yes, that is where I am ‘heading’ with this piece.
You think God only comes down to check on you when you’re having your quiet time, or in church lifting your hands? And then He looks away throughout the day as you’re commenting on that sexually suggestive tiktok or IG video? Or as you’re ‘staning’ someone doing something so clearly contrary to the scriptures? Or as you constantly absorb immoral and ungodly content from your favourite vlogger or social media influencer? Do you think God does not care that the one(s) you have taken as models are modeling nothing of Him to you? Yet, you are quick to explain it away with ‘it is not that deep, it’s just for fun and cruise’.
Please, think about it. And if the only reply you have is “don’t judge”, I assure you, it’s not about that. We are all projects in progress, but how do we show this God that we’re serious with this faith life we profess and claim to have, when all we do on social media is celebrate and encourage unrighteousness and immorality? How do you balance it with the word you hear week in, week out in church? Is this how we shine as light?
I don’t know about you, but I don’t think so.
I’m trying not to give too direct examples so it doesn’t seem like I’m highlighting anyone, but this is an issue to be addressed. The lines have never been this blurred, such that on the same string of social media updates we see all sorts of posts glorifying God and the devil respectively.
Child of God, we need to remind ourselves of our values from time to time. Especially in this season where its so easy to get carried away by sheer godlessness disguised as fun or cruise.
It is possible to do right by God. It is possible to please God even in our social media lifestyle. It is also possible to start making the right choice from now on. It is possible to honour God even in what we ‘stan’.
So, when the Father looks down upon our lives at any point in time, He will find us pleasing Him, always.
Grace to you,
Sinuola.

Powerful piece ma. I would like to say that we live in a world that careless about God but run to Him when they are in trouble, God is not fire extinguisher or some ambulance for emergency. God is the God of all affairs.
God bless you ma, we will make impact to the ends of the earth, and Jesus must be seen.
“God is the God of all affairs”. Indeed, He is. May we continually make Him seen in all affairs.
God bless you real good sir!
Consistently and progressively living a conscious live of Christ even in the secret without compartmentalization.
