In what appears to be the latest from the stables of the Mount Zion Christian Films, co produced by the Nigerian Christian Corpers’ Fellowship, Kebbi State, comes ‘Land of Fury’ the movie with a message for the season. The first observation the viewer gets from the trailer is the absence of any familiar face among the cast of this movie. “These guys must be really good” becomes the reasonable conclusion. And really good they were.
The first scene does nothing to prepare our hearts for the coming emotional roller coaster ride at all. We meet David, (who in his own words is) a young man of marriageable age still being “bossed” around by his christian mother who does not seem to understand what a ‘Monday-morning rush’ is. She’d rather have a mini Sunday school session regardless of the time and her murmuring son. David, on the other hand is soon to realise that there are by far more serious matters in life than a seemingly overbearing spiritual mother. Things like spending the next couple of days in a kidnappers’ den.
The plot is evidently a thorough one. Damilola Bamiloye certainly took things a notch higher with this prolific script and amazing directing. The characters are another matter. The way and manner the main characters delivered is quite laudable.
‘General’ delivers an applause worthy performance of a demonic and fierce kingpin in action as well as in speech. Fantastic acting I must say.
We see Mario also, the second-in-command serving us the right dose of humour and seriousness as and when due. His character is used to pass some of the most important messages in the movie across to the believer. Quite commendable is also the performance of the little girl ‘employed’ to make the General fall asleep. The scene where she demands to speak to her mother else she’d stop reading says something about a believer’s authority against the enemy and walking in same. David gives a good delivery of a christian rising to the occasion as best as he can. He is no longer the Christian struggling to remember the memory verse for the day. Rather, he would even go as far as leading one of his captors to Christ. Deliverance comes for David and his students, but at what cost?
The movie resounds in the believer’s ear that power is truly made available when we pray. It also comes with a message of hope for our land. God is always ready to arise on behalf of his saints, and he will, once we take this matter seriously.
Land of fury is a must watch for everyone. It is one of those movies so real you’d forget that fact. No embarrassingly glaring flaws or awkward cuts in this one. The rescue mission and face off with the police could have been more organized in my opinion, but no serious harm was done to the movie.
The final scene leaves the viewer quite charged up to go into some mighty intercession for the nation, which is a good thing because, why is it a christian movie if it does not spur you to prayers at all?
